The series of workshops on businesses and land stewardship begins

The series of workshops entitled “Businesses and Land Stewardship: Allies by Nature” has begun with the aim of consolidating and improving existing frameworks for collaboration between nature conservation organizations and businesses in order to help incorporate land stewardship into their sustainability strategies. This initiative, which will take place until May 26 in virtual format, is part of the LIFE STEWARDSHIP project, coordinated by the Biodiversity Foundation of the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge. Within this framework, SEO/BirdLife, a partner in the project, is organizing this initiative, which has the support of five major business platforms, including the Spanish Business and Biodiversity Initiative (IEEB), promoted by the MITECO Biodiversity Foundation; Forética, the Business and Climate Foundation (FEC), the Spanish Green Growth Group (GECV), and the Spanish Confederation of Business Organizations (CEOE). These workshops will highlight the contribution of companies to achieving a clean and healthy environment, as well as integrating land stewardship into their environmental performance objectives with regard to CO2 footprint, biodiversity conservation, environmental restoration, and ecosystem services, among others. The two-hour sessions will present LIFE STEWARDSHIṔ and provide in-depth knowledge and understanding of land stewardship as a nature conservation tool based on voluntary agreements. Each workshop will include a participatory space to analyze the weaknesses, threats, strengths, and opportunities that land stewardship offers companies. In addition, a company linked to each platform will present a successful experience in land stewardship. In this vein, the Plan for incorporating biodiversity into Nestlé's dairy farms will be unveiled, with the collaboration of the IEEB; the Cajamar Foundation's Sustainability Strategy and links to land stewardship, with the collaboration of Forética; and the Borges Group's Biodiversity Conservation Action Plan at Mas de Colom, with the collaboration of FEC. The final sessions will highlight the contribution of land stewardship in monitoring and improving ecological processes following mining restoration, which will be presented by Holcim in collaboration with GECV, as well as partnerships with local stakeholders for biodiversity conservation, presented by Redeia in collaboration with CEOE, which will conclude the workshop series on May 26. The workshops are aimed at companies and land stewardship organizations. To participate, you must receive an invitation and register in advance through SEO/BirdLife and the collaborating business platforms. LIFE STEWARDSHIP PROJECT The LIFE STEWARDSHIP project aims to promote land stewardship as a tool for nature conservation and restoration through innovation and collaboration between administrations, landowners, companies, NGOs, and other entities.
